<image:title>Edili Marleny Maldonado, LMHC, LCMHC, LPC, NCC, CCMHC - Edili Marleny Maldonado, LMHC, LCMHC, LPC, NCC, CCMHC</image:title>
<image:caption>Welcome! My name is Edili Marleny Maldonado, and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York, a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina, and a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey. With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals from diverse backgrounds lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Throughout my ten years of practice, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, elders, and high-risk clients. My clients come from various social backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, ages, genders, and economic statuses, and I have experience addressing a wide range of mental health disorders. I take an eclectic approach to therapy, tailoring my methods to each client’s unique needs. While I often use cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, modeling, and motivational interviewing, I prioritize aligning therapeutic approaches with my client’s specific goals and challenges to enhance the effectiveness of treatment. Therapeutic Philosophy My desire to help others led me to pursue a career in mental health. I believe that change happens when individuals are met with empathy, understanding, and unconditional positive regard. By providing a safe, nonjudgmental space, I empower my clients to explore their inner selves, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop new perspectives and coping skills. A significant moment in therapy occurs when a client experiences a breakthrough realization that shifts their perspective and allows them to break free from self-limiting patterns. Witnessing these moments of insight and their positive impact reaffirms the transformative power of therapy. Areas of Expertise I specialize in treating a variety of mental health conditions, including ADHD, grief and loss, oppositional defiant disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, panic, stress, and mood disorders. Additionally, I am proficient in Spanish and have extensive experience providing treatment in that language, allowing me to create a culturally sensitive and inclusive therapeutic environment. Inspiration and Influences Growing up in a monolingual Spanish-speaking household and navigating between cultures has significantly shaped my perspective and increased my sensitivity to diverse experiences. This unique multicultural background allows me to offer a more inclusive and empathetic approach to therapy. I am continually inspired by the resilience and strength of individuals who overcome adversity and find ways to thrive. This inspiration drives me to provide the best possible support and guidance on their journey toward healing and personal growth. My work is also influenced by mentors, supervisors, and prominent figures in the mental health field. The research and teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and Steve de Shazer have enriched my understanding of mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and positive psychology. Collaborative Healing Clients who benefit most from therapy with me are open-minded, motivated, and actively engaged in the therapeutic process. Our collaboration and strong therapeutic alliance are crucial for achieving meaningful and successful outcomes. I commend every client for seeking treatment, as it demonstrates their strength and determination to improve themselves. Together, we can embark on a journey of healing and positive change. Let’s Begin the Healing Process Together If you are ready to take the first step toward a healthier and more fulfilling life, I am here to support and guide you. Let’s begin this transformative journey together.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Born in Jamaica and deeply connected to Caribbean culture, I bring a unique perspective to the field of mental health. After many years working in the legal field, I transitioned to counseling to follow my passion for helping others in a more personal and transformative way. I am currently a master’s student at Pace University, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while specializing in Mental Health Counseling. During my graduate training, I gained valuable experience working with children facing behavioral challenges and supporting individuals at an eating disorder clinic. These experiences, combined with my professional background, have strengthened my commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. I am especially passionate about serving individuals from Caribbean communities, helping to bridge gaps in access and understanding in mental health services.</image:caption>

<image:caption>As a Mental Health Counselor, I am dedicated to creating a safe, compassionate, and collaborative space where clients can feel seen, heard, and supported. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and change. My goal is to walk alongside each client as they navigate life’s challenges and discover their own inner strengths. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. CBT allows us to identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to emotional distress. Person-Centered Therapy emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and respect for each client’s autonomy. Together, these approaches create a balance between practical tools and individualized experience. I approach each session with warmth, openness, and curiosity. Whether someone is working through anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, or self-esteem concerns, I strive to meet them where they are without judgment. In addition to helping them move toward their goals with clarity and confidence. I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and I am committed to tailoring our work to fit each person’s unique needs and preferences. What drew me to this work is my deep belief in the power of human connection and the courage it takes to ask for support. I feel honored to be able to help others find their footing again. It is a true privilege to be part of a client’s healing journey, and I am genuinely excited to guide and support each person as they move toward a fulfilling and empowered life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Ron Alexander (he/him) is a Mental Health Counseling intern at Sycamore Haven Counseling, PLLC in New York. He comes to the counseling room with over a decade of experience in higher education, student conduct, and residence life, where he has walked alongside college students and young adults navigating crisis, transition, and identity questions. Ron is currently completing his M.S. in Mental Health Counseling at Pace University and has a special interest in working with adolescents, college students, LGBTQIA+ clients, people involved in conduct/disciplinary processes, and adults exploring recovery, grief, and life transitions. Ron’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. He integrates person-centered, relational, and CBT-informed approaches with an eye toward culture, power, and lived experience. In sessions, Ron focuses on building a strong, nonjudgmental relationship where clients can slow down, notice patterns, and experiment with new ways of coping, relating, and making meaning. He believes people are more than their worst day or their hardest moment, and he works to balance accountability with deep compassion. Outside the therapy room, Ron enjoys playing in a local LGBTQ+ flag football league, reading true crime and psychology books, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family.</image:caption>
